Robert McKenzie and Paul Fernandez were the stars of the show for the Amblers yesterday, in an overall disappointing day and turnout for the club. Robert, even suffering from a cold, ran brilliantly to finish in a fine 2nd place in the U11 boys race. Paul also had a fine race and finished 2nd in the senior mens race, only 24 seconds behind winner Darrell Bellinger of Oxford City. Les Newell was 11th
Other hi-lights were Michael Fabes, 4th in the U13 boys race, Cordelia Parker 8th in the U13 girls and Sarah Matthews first Ambler woman home in 21st position.
This was the good news. Overall though, the turnout from the Amblers was very poor, and although it was Cirencester, the furthest we normally have to travel, it was the lowest turnout this season. Its a shame as for example we had 4 senior men in the top 31, but the team with 7 counting, finished in 7th position out of 8.
Hopefully we will do better in the last XC of the season at Horspath, Oxford in a months time on 7th March.
